Safety Excess Flow Valve
Safety Excess Flow Valves and Velocity Fuses. When a pipe breaks, the valve shuts down the flow of gases or liquids. Our Valve Will Make Your Plant Safer and May Make You Eligible for Insurance Discounts.
Safety Excess Flow Valves are adjustable. Sizes range from capillary size for laboratory analyzers to process piping sizes for bulk tank loading. Smaller size excess flow safety valves are sometimes called velocity fuses. They can be ordered with a manual reset option. Materials include: bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, forged steel, and 316 stainless steel.
Applications include:
- compressed air lines which can cause hose whip
- loadout racks in refineries and chemical plants
- hazardous gases which may be toxic to humans,
- non-hazardous gases like nitrogen and CO2 which may displace breathing air
- pollution control,
- leak detection,
- gas analyzers which may have hydrogen as a carrier gas,
- hydraulic lines,
- sampling station operator protection,
- regulator protection,
- catastrophic failure protection,
- plant lines,
- fuel lines to boilers, burners, heaters and other gas appliances
- chemical processing,
- petrochemical installations
- reduce potential for explosions at methane extraction facilities.
A locking cap can help prevent tampering with excess flow valve setpoint adjustment. Switches are designed to be field maintainable and settable to prevent nuisance trips common in competitive products. Velocity fuses and excess flow valves can be adjusted in the field to meet individual customer requirements. Meets OSHA requirement for safety shutoff valves.
Options include:
- threaded or flanged
- carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy and other materials
- automatic reset hole to reset switch for applications where an event is common
- reset valve to return to normal operation
- differential pressure switch to alert event
- call for special requirements
