Which Type is best for your application?

Commercial HVAC Spring Return Electric Actuators low cost and are normally used for Building Control Applications for Heating and Cooling Loops in Building Automation and for OEM Applications.  Limitations include: torque-cant turn large valves, electrical classification - usually not water tight, not explosionproof, not corrosion resistant, no heater/thermostat for condensing atmospheres, no auto/manual override.  May be slow responding for process.

Industrial Battery Backup Actuators or UPS medium cost and are used in both Building Control, OEM, and Industrial Applications. A battery is used instead of a spring for fail safe return.  Nema 4X water tight and corrosion resistant.  Heater and thermostat for condensing environment.  Extra contacts for feedback to plc to show open/closed state.  Auto/manual override.  Limitation: battery must be changed.  Non-explosionproof.

Industrial Spring Return Electric Actuator 5-10 times the cost of Commercial Spring Return Actuators and Industrial Battery Backup Actuators.  Availability of Explosionproof Enclosure.  No battery to change.  Limitation: High Cost and Large size motor to overcome valve torque plus spring torque.  

Spring Return Air Actuated Valve with Air Compressor It might be alot cheaper to buy an air compressor and a spring return air operated valve than to buy an industrial Spring Return Electric Actuated Valve.
